Being in God's word daily makes all the difference in every area of my life. Relationships at home and at work are much improved. By spending time in the word I become aware of God's purpose for my life. I am living life with a purpose b/c of my commitment to spend time with Him daily.
This is a first time experience for me to follow along with other people in an on line study group. I have never been one for Bible study groups as I tend to be a loner. I live in Florida and follow along not each day as I should but I keep all the e-mails and read them all. I think about the questions then go for a 30 minute walk to help think about the questions. I think I would like to continue to read with all of you and I thank my family for sending me the initial e-mail to get started.
Consistent involvement in God's Word has provided continued growth of faith, affirmation of life applications, and conviction of shortcomings (sometimes daily accountability) . That presence adds up to peace and confidence. While this sounds like a church speak pitch for Bible study, you should know that this is the first time in my life that this has been a daily routine.
It was one thing to experience JTJ through Watermark last year, but it COMES ALIVE with the insights from people we know. This is powerful because it helps me see how God speaks to others through His word, and that almost always opens my blinders a little wider.
Having a daily passage that I don't have to pick...it takes away my excuse of not knowing what to do.
Helping me to develop a habit of reading the Bible regularly. I have tried numerous times before on other reading plans and have given up after a while, but it's been several months now, and reading the passages and devotionals is still something I look forward to each weekday. The personal stories and explanations of the passage really add to my understanding of the text. Before, I felt like I was reading in a vacuum, but the format of The Journey really helps me to stay involved and focused.
The Journey has really enhanced my quiet times. Upon my husband's suggestion I have started journaling each day and that has made a world of difference in what I get out of the devotionals. Even if at first glance the passage may not seem as applicable to my life, when I take the time to really think about the questions and journal a bit for each one, every time I am rewarded with nuggets of truth that God wanted to reveal to me.
I have appreciated the 5 day a week reading plan. With two small children and a part time job, I have found myself unable to stick with a traditional Bible in a year plan. It is a great encouragement to feel like I am "keeping up" and not be discouraged if I cannot read every day. I also have really appreciated the online devotionals.
I was having a problem finding motivation to spend time in the word every day, but getting the emails each day reminded me and kept me motivated in keeping up. A great way to make sure I get "God time" in consistently.
This Journey is a GREAT addtion to my morning quiet time. Instead of spending my time with God in prayer and reading my devotionals then clicking on my computer to check the news, I now do the above, but click on my computer to "Join the Journey"! Thanks!
It has simply made me desire to get into the Word everyday.
I've just loved knowing that as a body we're all embarking on the same path...I love talking with some friends about the passage for the day or the journey journal entry when it hits home with me. It's been so exciting to be going the same direction with an entire body on our spiritual journey. I really love it....
This is my first time to read the New Testament in its entirety! What a reward! Also, it has given me great insight into what the scripture and passages talked about really mean.
We are using it as a family devotional. We homeschool our kids and this is our Bible reading each day. We have LOVED it!!!
The Journey at Hill Country Bible Church is wonderful. The messages from church members are inspiring and so encouraging. Everyday I read it...I think about where I am in my journey, and it helps me to focus on GOD...not me!!! May GOD use the journey in a mighty way to help us all through this journey of life.
When Tim introduced "The Journey" to the congregation, I was intrigued. I travel around the country for my company, many times for three weeks of the month. Surely my anchor is Christ, but life's distractions tend to pull me into complacency. Having this scripture study and devotional is truly a godsend for me, staying in hotels, away from my family. After following the Journey's path, I feel more connected to my Savior, my wife and the body of Christ at HCBC. Thank you Jesus, and HCBC
