Central Truth
It's clear that God knows our every thought and examines our faith in Him. We don't even have to speak - He knows if we believe His Word and trust His promises. He hears our words and knows what's in our hearts and our thoughts. He knows everything!
Reflections
Sarah was listening when God proclaimed to Abraham that "I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah will have a son." Sarah laughed to herself silently and said, "How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when her husband, Abraham, is also so old!" What would cause Sarah to question God's blessing of a child? Did it even occur to Sarah that God could know her thoughts? Sarah denied laughing and was afraid. But God spoke to her and confronted her unbelief.
God then questioned Abraham as to why Sarah would laugh. God emphasized to Abraham, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" At this point, Sarah may have had thoughts racing through her mind that she could actually bear a son in her old age.
Sarah clearly demonstrated that she found it impossible to believe God's promise. Like Sarah, I struggle many times to believe that nothing is too hard for the Lord. But the Scriptures teach us that He is in control and that we can trust Him, even when circumstances seem impossible.
Do I believe that God knows everything that I think or knows when I demonstrate a weak faith and trust in Him? I know I have been deceitful in my heart before my Lord many times over the years.
There was a specific situation when God was leading our family to move to Tokyo, Japan, for a three-year business assignment. My first reaction was absolutely not. Leave our home country, our family and church and move our young family to a foreign country? As I prayed for God's leading to take care of every detail to prepare us for this move, my faith and trust skyrocketed. It was an amazing three years with wonderful experiences and God maturing us in our relationship with Him.
We are currently in God's "waiting room" to hear His next plan for our lives. God has freshly reminded me that nothing is too hard for Him as He directs the lives of His children. He just asks us to trust Him.
Discussion Questions
1. Do you, like Sarah, struggle with believing God can do the impossible in your life?2. Do you think about the fact that God not only hears the words we speak, He also knows our every thought?
3. When the Holy Spirit speaks to you regarding your faith in God, are you quick to repent when you know you've sinned by your lack of faith?
4. Do you praise God for the past when He has done the impossible in your life, and do you ask Him regularly to increase your faith and trust in Him?

Thanks for the well written reminder that there is nothing too hard for God, it's our doubt and unbelief that gets I'm the way. Ay God clearly direct your path in this current seeking time.

Continuing to pray for you and John as you are in "the waiting room". Excited to watch what our powerful all knowing God will do. When you see the next step, may you laugh like Sarah but with a willing heart because He is calling you into something impossible for you to do.

God can do the impossible! I so agree! Yet fears try to set in as I face many impossibles right now. I join you in asking God to use this waiting time to grow my faith and love for Him. May we expectantly look to God to see what impossible things He plans to accomplish in and through us as well as those we love! Thanks for being a wonderful example in living dependent on God!
